You seem to have missed my point, I think?īelieve me, I happen to be one of those "others". ![]() Scaling costs to power up say "Powering up is very important, so much so that it must be locked behind gates." A much better system would be to just have a "10 XP: Modify one of your Power Sets". If the goal is just to say, "No, powering up isn't important", and I agree that it is, then scaling costs to power up are a bad idea. Then the experience section comes along as says, "Psyche! You should spend XP to boost your stats that we just said should be fine!" The entire character creation section is going to great pains to tell us that our dice aren't going to affect our screentime, and we should just put something neat together. When I'm told that stepping up a d6 or d8 costs 10 XP, but stepping up a d10 costs 15 XP, I'm being told that a d12 is that much more rare and valuable than a d10.īut it isn't. If buying a d6 up to a d8 costs as much as buying an event resource, I assume that this is because buying a d6 up to a d8 is worth about as much as an event resource.
